I like to use ultra-wide angle lenses for landscapes, because you can include so much in the photograph. They do however introduce a tremendous amount of distortion in images, even when perfectly level. I correct or attenuate this with DxO software.

Here's the picture with no distortion correction.




Here is the same photo, but somewhat corrected to make it look more like what I actually saw.



Photograph taken with a 10-24mm lens on a Nikon D7000. The point is, even though ultra-wides do distort, you can usually fix it in post-production, at least to a certain extent.

Would a tilt and shift lens do the same thing? I know sw is cheaper.

No T&S will correct all distortion. It's like using a view camera.
