Can anyone reccomend me which camera to buy ? So far I have nearly made up my mind with Sonys DSC-P150 with 7 megapixels ... but .... the choosen one has to pass the ultimate field test: AR Forums ... can someone suggest me something better for that money (aprox USD 400)? First hand opinions on the mentioned are also welcome !

Regards

I would choose depending on the budget a Canon S70, 7 megapixel or the Canon S60, 5 megapixel. Cameras have a 28-100mm zoom lens. Most camera start at 35/38mm which I dont find wide enough.

The Pentax Optio range are also very good, very little shutter lag for a point & shoot camera.

Lithium Ion batt do better in the cold, NiMH batt lose about 3% power everyday so in 2 weeks you are down to 50%, this is without using the camera.

I just switched to Digital this year and for a starter got the Sony DSC-W1 5mg. So far -with the exception of telephoto stuff- it has been great. It's relitively cheap, uses AA batteries and has minimal shutter lag. I've taken photos for my magazine articles and for full page stuff it works great.

Can you tell me what you wish to do with the camera and the photos? If you do not have a desire to go beyond a 8 x 10 print any high quality 3-4 megapixel will do wonderful. I would find a camera with very easy to use controls. If you have to research the owners manual every time you want to use it you will simply leave it in its case.
