? ? Canon 400 XTi or Nikon D80 ? ? I am have to to order SOON, which should it be. I have read reviews and none have convinced me one way or the other. Any informed "opinions" out there? Any site that reviews side by side comparisons? I have visited most of the online "opinion polls, that is why I can not make up my mind. It is for a gift (I might even get to use it) so I have to get one of them ordered. Any alternatives just to really confuse the issue???? Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

I am a happy D80 owner. Actually I just purchased two. I bought one for my office and was so impressed with it that I bought one for my son in Minnesota. It will change the way you think about photography. I know nothing about the Canon 400 XTi. If I had to make a quick camera decision it would always be to go with Nikon. It may or may not be best but it is always good. ALLEN W. I agree with Allen. In my own experience, Nikon digital SLRS are streets ahead of Canon's. With compacts, it is the other way. Canon's are much better. So for compcats I use a Canon Ixux 850 IS. And for SLRS I have several Nikon's

Palmer and Saeed, thank you for your replies. It seems one can seldom go wrong with a Nikon anyway. This camera site came from a person on another shooting site and acutally had this side by side comparison. http://www.dcviews.com/reviews/Canon-Rebel-XTi-Nikon-D8...Nikon-D80-review.htm Prices are MUCH closer than the review states which made the choice a little closer/harder to judge. The D80 will be on order here in a few minutes! Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits

Well Doug et al Looks like I get a chance to reconsider. I ordered as I said from fotoconnection on Sunday May13. Monday there were three emails from them saying to call and it gave a name. Surprise that person was busy but so and so could help me. Help meant a high pressure sales pitch for one item after another and no matter what I said their phone hack was going to sell me something. I said to get the order processed and the item on the way. Each day of last week I checked and the order was always in the processing stage . . . Friday I told them to give my credit card full credit for any charges, to cancel my order, that I would order from a reputable dealer that had the camera in stock, and that spread the word about the "quality" of their service. Now I have to go find a new source for the camera and lenses. I would much prefer to be telling you about the equipment. Oh Doug, I have 5-6 Canon film cameras and I have NO idea how many lenses, but the D80 feels better (bigger body size) and I will NEVER trash any Nikon product because I have always considered them top notch Don't limit your challenges . . . Im just a hobbiest when it comes to photography. I looked at both Cannon and Nikon. I had a spending limit of 1500.00 for the body. Ended up with the d200. Cannon 30d just didnt compare. Everything else was out of my price range. I have a 70-200vr and a tamron 35-70 2.8. Both take outstanding pictures. I think Cannon wins with ISO and speed. But Nikon wins everything else. The color is excellent. Maybe the d3 will fill the gap.
