We are in Kenya on a photo safari, and of course everyone has a camera!

I am using a Canon 7D with a 28-300 canon lense, and a 10-22 Canon lense.

The rest of our family and friends are using a variety of cameras, including:

A Nikon D90 with a Nikon 70-300 VR, 18-120.
Panasonic FZ40
Sony HX1
Panasonic TZ10
Panasonic TZ7
And one small Olympus I don't know what model because I was not allowed to see it!

We have been on a game drive early this morning, and saw the following wnimals:

Cheetah
Elephant
Eland
Thommies
Grants
Impala
Monkeys
Black backed jackals
Giraffe
And lots of birds.

I should have plenty of photos to post for your enjoyment when we get back.

Saeed,

Next time you head to Africa lemme know and I'll add another camera to the mix!

I'm in northern Minnesota right now taking vids of snow! Would love to go out there and take pics and vids of all the wildlife there.

The canon 10-22 is a great lens, I tried one for awhile. The only problem is that it covers too much area!

If you ever need an extra camera guy, I'll go anywhere and shoot some cinematography... Just tell me when and how much for airfare!

Oh, forgot to say, you sent me a hunting dvd of your excursions back long ago and I forgot to thank you... back then I got it in the mail in the form of a cd... I appreciate it very much, if you want some vids I took of america let me know as I'd like to return the favor, and I'd like some critiques on how it looks on your mega screen!

Have fun in Africa and let us know when you get back with some megabites!

Saeed.

Have you had occasion to use the 7D in video mode?

If so, what is your opinion?

It would be nice to be able to combine an SLR and video camera on safari and save weight---but only if it works.

Thanks

I realize that you didn't ask me, but here are some photos taken with a Nikon D90 and the first generation 18-200mm lens. Photos taken at Lake Nakuru in Kenya.

I've decided I like the square format (1:1) for web posts. All photos taken hand-held, from your typical tourist pop-top mini-van.

I should add that I have a whole bunch of crappy pictures taken with the same camera-lens combination as well. Sometimes you just luck out.
