I take long videos with the Gopro, mainly by waterholes, clouds, sunup or sunset. Because the availability of memory cards, I was limited to about 8 hours in 1080P HD. That was with 128 GB card. The other day I got a 256 GB card, and thought of trying it. I used an external power pack of about 10,000 MAH. The battery ran out well before the memory card was full. I replaced the power pack with a 20,000 MAH. I got just over 9 hours of video. The camera said the card was full, but it was not. The power pack still 37% of juice left. I think I found the limitation. The camera starts a new file just before it gets to 4 GB. This gives about 8 minutes do 52 seconds. But, I am guessing because of the files system, the camera cannot have more than 64 files. Once it gets there, it stops as it believes the card is full. If any of you has any theories, I would appreciate hearing them

There is a thing called "file chaptering" which will limit file sizes on some video cameras, but normally a second file commences at the completion of the first. Older GoPros were at 2GB, maybe the new ones are at 4GB. But I don't know about a maximum number of files. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Whatever it is is, it seems to limit the videos to 64 files. I am only guessing, and cannot see any reason that I can understand.
