I find the general turkey surprise call in woodpecker peacock but does anyone here have experience with a good one for Distress? I recently shot two coyotes after a barn cat wooded a woodpecker and it was screaming. I went to look to find the cat trying to kill and it and two coyotes running right at me and the barn.

OT -- for you amateur radio guys - the Russian Woodpecker is back !! This was the old signal that travelled down the bands that reminded us of a woodpecker ! The pileated woodpecker is actually very vocal though most people don't know this and only know the knock, knock ,knock of digging for insects !

I like a distressed woodpecker, half grown Jack rabbit (same as a grown cotton tail call) for coyotes. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

I bought a commercial call that sounds not like the pileate, BUT and OMG I mean BUT the coyotes flock to it... ...I also have a call that I had custom made that can be used as a howler, to sound like a distress woodpecker, or even cow elk call...man that guy did me so well on that call and it was made of the woods I sell and hippo ivory...
