Is it necessary to die snares? IF it is what makes a good die when you cannot find any walnut hulls for a foot of snow on the ground. Seems like I remember some kind of bark making decent die.

Thanks and God Bless, Louis

The baking soda will work.Newt (link provided by previous poster) also sells his "formula one" dye and it works good on snares. The baking soda is all you really need though.

I make a lot of snares every year. Make them in the spring of the year. Boil them in baking soda and water for a hour like said above. Since I trap in Ak I lay out the traps and put a little camo white spray can job on them. you have to be careful not paint the lock. Then let them air out all summer in a tree, ect. I really think it helps them blend it.
