Recently pulled out a 375 Big Bore (not angle eject) that I bought years ago. It had a scope mounted on it (which I removed) and I replaced the missing screws.
Does anyone know if there is a peep sight I can install w/out having to drill any holes. I know there are lots of sights for the 30/30 94's but they won't fit the "humped" sidewalls of the receiver. I'd like to use this gun for deer hunting w/out a scope. 50yds is a long shot through the popple whips and cedar swamps here in the UP. Figure I could remove the peep and "ghost ring" it in those instances.
If anyone has a suggestion (mfg and model number would be most appreciated), I'd love to hear about it.
Really don't want to put any more holes in the receiver, the gun is 95%+ right now.

i also have that rifle and have been thinking of doing the same thing. i can't get my eyes to focus on the rear sight

Williams makes a foolproof model for the big bore winchester. I've got one on a big bore .307, the part number is 94BBSE for the one you want. It mounts correctly in tapped holes and no drilling is required.

I'll check out the William's sight. I figured someone must make a simple sight for that model even though there weren't a lot of Big Bore's made.

i think the 94BBSE is for the angle eject version. it looks like the one you want is the
FP 94/375 or the FP 94/375 TK.

Found the site, however the statement:
"For Winchester 94 Big Bore .375. Also fits 94 Big Bore Angle Eject, but drilling and tapping is necessary."
is confusing. It seems that drilling/tapping MAY apply to both models.
I'll try to call Williams, or send them an E-mail. The $73 cost isn't too bad, but I might have to wait for my next retirement check.
BTW - If the wife and I DO get a check from the "gummint", its all going to guns and ammo (well... maybe a nice pair of shoes for the wife).

Is the side of your receiver D&T for two holes on the left side of the receiver just forward of the rear "side hump"?
(~half an inch apart parallel to the bore)

BTW, if you have difficulty locating a williams FP (a proper "period" sight for a top eject big bore)
I happen to have one.

YEARS ago I wanted an FP for my Marlin 1895 and the gunsmith sold me an FP375 instead, it fit and I used it for 15years, then I removed it to replace it with a scope.
(a crappy 2.5x20 bushnell)

Then I aquired a top eject Win 94 which was equipped with a real goofy side mount and an (at the time) undentified 4x30-something scope with a one piece steel body tube...

After removing that I was tickled pink to discover it was a
USA made Weaver K4, which now lives on my 1895
(the bushnell finding final rest in a convenient trash can)

At that point I remembered that I had the williams FP which I quickly mounted on the 94.

But that "Gap" at the back really bugs me, the mounting base is clearanced for that wider "rib" on the big bore.
So IF the 375 sight turns out to be "No Longer Available" and you really want one I'll trade you even up for a non-clearanced base.

Given a choice between a current production lyman and a williams I think the Williams is a far better sight.

My issue with the current Lyman sights is that they were designed to be made of steel, but are now milled to more or less the same dimensions but in ALUMINUM.

this makes them incredibly easy to bend, and IMHO a bent "iron" sight is only an expensive piece of scrap metal.

The Williams FP was DESIGNED to be made from aluminum and isn't nearly so delicate.

I have one of Lyman's POS aluminum sights
(bent) and frankly the only thing useful I got out of it was the larger diameter "Disc" intended for target work that I drilled to the size hole to make me happy (about halfway between the original lyman hole and the hole in the sight with the disc removed alltogether.

all I can tell you is mine was ready for the sight. Your gun maybe be different as one may be a true winchester and one a USRA. I think mine is a USRA as it has the ugly safety and rebounding hammer.

I put a williams on my 375 win 94 BB. No modifications necessary.
