.......as I know nothing about these rifles, this may sound like a stupid question, but will a mod.64 lever fit ( or be made to fit )a mod.94??
My question is really, is there a curved lever that will fit a mod.94 ??

The 64 and 94 actions are the same if made in the same time frame. There may have been slight differences such as a 64 and a 94 made in the first years of production. The curved lever of a 64 will fit a 94 but you'd need a semi pistol grip stock for the 94 for it to fit and look right.

.....thanks for that, I've got an old '70s m94 and I've always liked the look of the semi pistol grip and 1/2 magazine.....I think a 7-30 Waters could be in my future.......now that my double rifle project has dissolved til I find a suitable donor, I can see this filling its place. Wink

Roger, that is a very lovely project. I always thought the 64 the handsomest of the Winchester lever guns.

There was a 64A built in the 70's or early 80's. These have the 64 look but not the 64 price. It might be easier to buy one of these and rebarrel.

.....thanks Bill, I like them too.....Buckeye,

yes that would be easier but those 64A's were pretty ordinary looking, especially in the levers......

.......when you compare them to the real thing ( a standard issue " Deer Rifle" )

.....or the Deluxe Carbine....

.......now imagine that with a 24" half octagon/ half round barrel in 7-30 Waters improved Smiler Smiler Smiler tu2

No question. But, some would feel bad about taking out a pre 64 if it were mint. The 64A being post 64 do not have collector appeal. I have been looking for a 64 deluxe in excellent condition for several years, unfortunately, when I find one that has the proper condition, I am short the cash or it is a 32 and not a 30-30.

I totally agree, which is why I would rather take an ordinary model 94 and convert it to a pseudo M64 with curved lever, stock etc.
This way I can get a custom "64" without sacrificing a possibly valuable rifle.

94's have curved lever models but AFAIK they are not as steeply curved as the levers on the 64's. Same goes for 65 and 71 levers - they are steeper than the shallower pistol grip models of the 92 and 86.

I think you would need a bottom tang to suit as well. A good smith could build up the tang and alter the lever to match.

I like the Model 55. They are more rare overhere than a 1866 rifle with Henrydrop..

Off topic...

YOur trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear!! The conversion of levers, and stock would be more expensive than the rifle..shoot the straight grip awhile and see if you can adjust to it, about 8 million Americans have.

.......been there, done that, still didn't like it......sold it and bought the Marlin in .375 Win.
The 94/64 is just something to play around with!.....I already have a pretty tatty old 94 in the rack, a good candidate for modification.
