Just bought a shooter M71. It had a marbles compass in the comb of the buttstock. The compass is missing. Anybody got 1? Randall

Why not contact them directly and see if they have one? They still make the compass as a pin on, perhaps you could take the attachment off? http://www.marblesknives.com/?...0&CONTEXT=cat&cat=21

http://www.dixiegunworks.com/p...php?products_id=7232 There are these on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHIC-5...%26sd%3D111789393244 can't beat the price of 5 for a dollar, just know that one or two will not work but the others will work fine, so long as you can live with the modernish styling. I bought about 30 of these and 5 or 6 were bad but the others weren't too bad a quality for the price. Here is an assortment: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-10...d:g:ih4AAOSwVFlUAz3W Hope that helps! I have always wondered about mounting a compass in a rifle stock. With all that iron around I figure it would point mostly toward the barrel or receiver? C.G.B.

Putting this in here, for all you younger guys wondering what this is about back in the 50's and 60's when tailfins were popular on cars there was an equally tacky and somewhat popular trend to mount a tiny button compass in the stocks of some rifles. Sometimes it is mounted on the side of the butt, and sometimes it can be mounted on the bottom of the grip where a grip cap would be. Anyway, only reason I can see to do it nowadays is if you have an old gun with a hole in the butt you want to fill. IF that is the case and money is not a priority I just found the best little compasses for this, it is called a "FB 1605 NATO Survival Button Compass" and they are cute and pricey to match ($45-$65) but if it adds value to the gun it might be worth it depending on the situation. 0.597 inches (15.2 mm) in diameter, 0.210 inches (5.4 mm) thick I just came across these and remembered this thread so thought I'd post it here so I can find it in the future if need be. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside
