Several years ago I had a problem with my 1895 a week before I was going on a hunt out west, I contacted Marlin on a monday morning, spoke to one of their techs and I had the replacement part the next day without a charge. I stumbled on this video concerning the apparent takeover of Marlin by Remington, I can't vouch for the accuracy but put this in your book of knowledgwe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUOrbeQNi2E NRA Life Member, ILL Rifle Assoc Life Member, Navy

With all the wonderful USED guns out there why would anyone buy any of this new crap ? Funny how American cars have gotten so much better since the 70s but American guns have gone downhill every year. If you want a new excellent American gun you're pretty much limited to Kimber, Cooper or Turnbull for B/A rifles , there are NO shotguns, and lots of ARs and 1911s that vary from trash to treasures. But why bother ? Buy used. Ever handled a Marlin 36 ? Why would you ever want any other 30-30 ? (and they appreciate too !)

I would like to point out an exception. While one may not like the redesign of th win model 70, they are built very well. Matt FISH!! Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984: "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

The 70s are nice EXCEPT for the stupid trigger that will pack it up (just like a 700) if exposed to dirt or salt air. The old 70 trigger was the best single stage hunting trigger ever made only inferior to a prewar commercial Mauser or 1903 Springfield National Match TWO stage, as they are more safe and can be adjusted lower than the old M70.
