There were two varieties I've seen of no drill/no tap scope mounts for the 99 Savage. One, the Stith "Streamline" used the rear sight slot and the holes drilled in the left side of the action for a receiver sight. The other, the name of which I can't recall for the life of me, used the holes on the tang for the tang sight, and the rear sight slot. This one is harder to find, but it is sometimes required. Not all "pre-scope" M 99's were drilled and tapped for a receiver sight. Some of the early ones, like my M99 TD .303 Savage, were not drilled & tapped for either a scope or a receiver sight. AC

And I havent had any help from the webmaster guy. If no help by Monday I will e-mail the CEO guy. I dont know if its a computer problem or what. I just really need to chat with that Savage Collectors room!

Stith also made the ring and base that attached to the tang, you could get them both ways...The gunlist has them for sale from time to time...I have a couple of sets, both are 7/8" and work well with the 2 Leupold Alaskans I have.
