Here's a wish list for Remington.

I'd like to see a .458 diameter (maybe .459") traditional round nose corelokt bullet with a weight of 400 grains. I'd also like one in 350 grains. Now that Remington bought Marlin, it would make sense for the right hand (BULLET: updated .459" 400 grain corelokt) to work with the left hand (RIFLE: Marlin 1895 with oal at 2.55" in 45-70).

Remington's .358"/200 grain round nose corelokt bullet is fantastic in the 35 Rem. I hope they follow the same guidelines and designs from the .358/200RN if they make a .458/350rn and/or 400 grain. Make the copper alloy jacket thick near the base of the bullet to withstand hitting a big elk bone, but have the nose/front part of the jacket taper to expand on a deer.

It would be a classic bullet for the 45-70 Marlin 1895. Remington's .458/400-405 is designed for low velocity (1300 fps). 458 Win mag and 458 Lott reloaders would jump all over this bullet too. It would be a counter to Hornady's Leverevelution gummy tip bullet in 45-70. The 45-70 is being updated. Remington, be a part of the updating.

C'mon Remington, give us a .458 diameter corelokt in 400 grains. We shoot them at 1700+ fps these days, not 1300 fps, amd would like penetration and bullet integrity. You'd own the market if you had such a bullet.

Note to Speer: make a redesign of your .458" 350 grain flat point cannelure, so it can be crimped for reliable functioning in a Marlin 1895 45-70, with oal of 2.55"

sounds like a big investment for little return for remington. the current 405 is inexpensive and good for medium speeds
