I have a BLR-81 in 284 Win that I would like to get a spare magazine for. I saw in another post that the 284's were made for several years but I have had no luck in finding a spare magazine. Does anyone know if another more common magazine will work or if one could be modified to function properly with the 284?

I would check some of the online places such as Brownells, Midway or e-gunparts. I may not have the last name spelled correctly. It may be e-parts or something like that...

Go to the Browning USA website and look up Customer Service. There is a section on dicontinued parts. They are handled by an outfit in Canada. It will cost over $50.00 and take forever to get to you.

Thanks guys. I have checked all the normal places and no luck. Called Browning and they told me who they sold all their parts to. I checked with them and they don't have any either, and they had no suggestion as to where I might get one. Guess I will have to take care of the one I have. I might try adapting a 308 magazine.

What's up with Browning BLR-81 magazines? I had a heck of a time getting a spare for my .308. Cabelas wanted to sell me a .243 as a substitute---which would have worked as long as the cartridges were loaded to SAMI...but...wasn't quite the same length as a .308. I finally found one at www.midwestgunworks.com, but even they don't have any for a .284. Where have all the Browning mags gone????
