It's normal.

If you want to spend about $90 you can get an aftermarket trigger that wont do that.

Hey guys
I've had my 1895 Guide Gun (45/70) for a while now but have only recently noticed how the trigger is really kind of floppy.
Even when on full-cock if the muzzle is pointed downwards the trigger will drop forward and seem loose. Also, when cycling the lever with muzzle down the lever will actually touch the tip of the trigger on the way past.
Side to side play seems to be excessive to me too.

The rifle has had less than 150rnds thru it, basically brand new really and everything still functions as it should.
So is this just standard equipment for 1895 Marlins? Just seems a bit weird to me....

Any thoughts or experiences?

Cheers
