I have a 375 Win Chester in Big bore 94 .I usually practice with 220 gr Hornady bullets and 235 Gr speer bullets as the first shot.I have never shot anything with it.I want to try the 255 gr Barnes bullets .I usually use AA1680 powder in the 375 win.I have not seen any loads using it with the 255 gr bullets. The 235 makes awesome groups but I have not recovered any bullets. The Hornady 220 gr turn into silver dollars sized and flat.I am either pushing it too fast or it is just too soft.So what have you shot with the 375 Win and with what bullet did you shoot it?

This isn't going to help you much. I shot a doe at about 15 steps with a Contender 14" pistol chambered in this caliber.

It went down very quick.

220 grain Hornady, and Reloader 7. Never found the bullet.

I shot a 100#+ feral dog with my 375 Big Bore. 220 Hornady bullet, RL7, range was a little over 50 yds. He was quartering away, the bullet broke a rib, went thru the shoulder on the off side and stopped under the skin with a classic mushroom shape. Total penetration was about 22 inches and he dropped in his tracks. I was pretty impressed with that performance, but haven't had the opportunity to take anything else with this rifle.

You can use .38-55 data to start for those 255 gr. bullets.

I've shot 5 whitetails with my Marlin M375. Used factory Winchester 200 grain. All the shots were 75 yards or less, broadside, and no bullets were recovered. No deer went more than 15 yards.

I hope John Moore sees this as he has shot deer and elk I believe and maybe something else. I know of another person who has shot an elk with this caliber from a Marlin last year in CO.

Some time back I e-mailed the techs at accurate arms and asked about loads for the Barnes 255 gn F/P and AA-1680. The load they recommended was supposed to push that bullet at approx 2100 fps according to their tests. I can't find that load info now in my notes to post here. You might try contacting Accurate and ask them to look it up.

Hope this helps,

I've shot two hogs with the 375 Win. and the 220 gr. Hornady. One at 10 feet in the head and one at 100 yrds. behind the shoulder. Both bullets exited. I have not chronographed the load but figure it's about 2,100 fps. I have also shot one hog at 60 yrds with a 375 H&H using the same bullet at 2,500 fps. I have chronographed this load. The bullet broke the left shoulder and exited behind the right. Personally, I don't think you can push the 220 Hornady too fast in the 375 Win.

I shot a fallow deer at close to 190 meters with a Winchester BB-94. The load was a 200 gr Sierra loaded with Rx7 to 2380 fps. If broke the facing shoulder and drilled a hole through the rear shoulder blade going out. One shot only and a very effective one at that!!!

I got right at 2400 fps with Hornady 220 gr and max load of aa1680 powder. The bullets looked like silver dollars shot in the sand at 30 yrads.I like using Speer 235 gr with aa1680 max load .They are very accurate but you can only load two or one in the gun due to points .I was wondering about using them on mooose at 2300fps the 235 gr speer bullets.

I bought another dang big bore 94 in 375 win.It was like new been shot 4 times for $400 .I want to try some hard cast bullets about 250 gr and the barnes bullets 250 gr .I need a tougher bullet for moose and even black bear than the hornady 220 gr.It is too soft I guess for 2400 fps.I loaded a few 300 gr FMJ dummies just for fun I wish I could chamber a 270 or 300 gr soft point. If I ever big a beat to hell or shot to hell big bore I would like to see if 375 JDJ would work in one if its not too much trouble.I have shot my other 375 win about 600 times or so .The Hornady bullets will only shoot about 3 inch groups at 100 yards. The speer 235 gr had shot 1" at 100 yards loaded singley. Is there another scope mount for these guns besides the weaver side mount.I have alot of trouble getting the scope set at the right position.
