Hornady is adding .32 Spl. to the Evolution line this year. Sure didn't expect that. Of course they're touting it as a 300 yard load. I still say if you expect long shots carry a long range gun but each to his own. I'll stick with those crappy old ballistically inferior RN/FP slugs for my .32's and other lever guns but it is interesting to see a modern load for this one. Listed as a 165 gr at a little over 2400 fps. The 7-30 Waters would seem like a decent candidate for the Evolution line, especially since the majority of them in use these days are Contenders.

If most of the 7mm-30 Waters are in Contender, why do you need a gummy bullet instead of a normal, better BC one?

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Just for the simple fact that it IS a spitzer but would still be safe for the handful of 94s out there. They obviously can't put out a hard pointed spitzer load because of the 94s. I sell a fair amount of the Federal loads at the shop each season and 90% of it is being used by T/C shooters, many who don't roll their own. A Evolution would cover all bases. I'd still shoot the 120 FP in my 94 even if they did offer Evolution in Waters because I'm not going to try to make a "300 yard" rifle out of any of my lever guns.
While we're at it, why do they make a .500 S&W Evolution? Besides the few custom lever guns out there, there's not a single tube fed .500 S&W rifle on the market.

Because city folk think the bright red tip makes the bullet better.

Some people think the factory Ballistic Silvertip loads with the Nickel brass allows them to shoot beyond belief just because the bullet looks neat and "space-age" as my grandpa put it.

Yeah, the one that really cracks me up is Winchester's recent introduction of the .30/30 Ballistic Silvertip. It's as blunt as any of the other round nose bullets so it's clearly "cosmetic", although I guess the polymer "tip" does resist deformation better than lead, like it really matters...

Or the amazing 357 and 44 Mag gummy tipped bullets that go with the 500 S&W line. At the velocities they are already going, it's not going to make much of a difference, the BC of the bullet still sucks. My guess is there will be more wounded game with people trying to take 200 yard shots with a 357 carbine or something similar.
