Since this is my 10 y.o. sons first year that he can have his own moose harvest ticket I gave him the choice of using any gun for the hunt that I have in my safe. He left out the obvious big kickers like the 450 Marlin and 338 WM and after several questions and a bit of pondering he came out with a bit of a surprise. He chose the Savage 99 with 180 grs. of 300 Savage. We went down to the range later and after the initial "oh my" of his first 30 caliber shot he decided that this really was the gun for the job. So the Savage 99 lives again.......in the hands of a 10 y.o.!
