Any opinion on the Lever Action rifles made by Sako? Thanks

Though a Sako-Finnwolf appears to be a copy of the Winchester 88, comparing them is like comparing an upscale Volvo to a K-car. Hi I have only seen one finnwolf on the local range, handelt it a little bit, action felt nice and smooth, it was in 308 and had a an aimpoin on it. I quite liked it, the guy shot some tiny groups freehand. (He is one of the competition shooters on the range.) He passed the shoting test for big game with out any trouble. Got it because he lost his right eye and have to shoot like a lefty. If you find one, take it to the range and shot it, see if you like it Johan There's plenty of room for all God's creatures. Right next to the mashed potatoes.

Have a early one in .308 . and I'm a left hand shooter . It is one of the most accurate rifle I have fired . It has a very smooth trigger more like a bolt than a lever. Action is very easy and smooth . I own other levers but it is in a class by itself . Only disavantage I can think of is weight. My experience is limited to this one rifle but if it is representive of all I would certainly purchase another. Hope it helps Frank

Owned one in .308. Very accurate and a great rifle. Passed it on to a left handed kid who needed a medium bore - and of course have regretted it ever since.

Just gave away one as a gift. It was too nice a rifle for me to use. Probably the best off-hand, opened sight rifle I have shot for things around the 100 yard mark. Mine was in 308. Heck of a rifle.

And it appears you're wrong. The Finnwolf is NOT a "copy" of the 88, nor is it in any way related.

My comment shouldn't have been meant to imply that they were mechanically similar in operation but the balance and ergonomics are indistinguishable. In a darkened room wearing gloves the only difference you'd likely notice is that the Sako is smoother. Given a choice between paying a current inflated "collector" price for an 88 and paying the same price for a Sako I'd consider the sako a bargain. I just bought one for my wife. It's in 243. Looks to have been used, but not abused. Bluing needs to be redone, but no rust. We're planning on having a new stock made for it, set up for a leftie, and the right size for my smallish wife. It cost $800 Australian, about $600 US. Hasn't been shot yet, so we don't know what the barrel is like. If it needs to be replaced, it might become a 260 or 7/08. Trigger is a nice weight, but lots of creep. Is that normal? Oh, and can someone suggest a source of a another magazine. Or perhaps a mag from another rifle could be modified to fit....any ideas.
