I've recently been handed down my grandfathers 1886 Winchester in 40-65. The rifle is in very good condition, and was "inspected & approved" for shooting by a gunsmith around 10 years ago. I do have a 1/2 broken "cartridge guide screw", which I'm looking into replacing, but I would like to use this rifle for a big bore shooting match next month. I may consider buying the dies & reloading at some point, but does anyone have a preference for "factory / private" loaded ammunition?

Google "40-65 ammo"...there are several sources like Midway, Track of the Wolf, Buffalo Arms...etc. Hard way to get a new toy, but at least it stayed in the family. Luck

Track of the Wolf was selling the discontinued PMC ammo several years ago. You might look for it.
