hey guys my father in law has a 336 in 30-30 with a cheapie bushnell sharpshooter scope on it when we take it to the range we have hell getting it to shoot a group even a 1.5 or 2 in group would look promising at this point one shot right on and the next 2 5 inches apart and both of them left or right by 3 inches give or take rifle is cleaned at the range between sessions and scope /rings are tight and checked about every 10 shots im wondering if the scope is junk maybe not shooting to poi or something what scope works well on lever guns? i dont own one but try to help him with his when i can any ideas?? mounts are leupold one piece base wih standard rings ammo is remington 150 gr core lokt express thanks guys divr6347 | ||

Just try open sites at 50 yds, and then the scope at 50 yds. That should answer your question then and there. Cheers & good shooting seafire | |||

Most Marlins that I have shot were very accruate and shot 1.5 or better at 100 for 3 shots...Try a different scope and be sure the mounts are screwed down tight...If all else fails have a knowledgable smith glass bed the butt and forend...Many times a good cleaning with a copper remover does wonders for the old lever guns that just don't seem to get cleaned a lot..Use some WipeOut on the bore.. | |||

hey thanks for the info guys we choose a nikon buckmasters 3x9x40 to go on the marlin to replace the bushnell sharpshooter i think it is a huge step up ill let you know the results when we get it sighted in divr6347 | |||

Thats a lot of scope power for a 150 yard brush gun..A fixed 4x would have been a better choice and then you have a 3x9x40 for your 270 or 300 Win. Thats a pretty good excuse to buy another rifle! | |||
