hey guys
my father in law has a 336 in 30-30 with a cheapie bushnell sharpshooter scope on it
when we take it to the range we have hell getting it to shoot a group even a 1.5 or 2 in group would look promising
at this point one shot right on and the next 2 5 inches apart and both of them left or right by 3 inches give or take rifle is cleaned at the range between sessions and scope /rings are tight and checked about every 10 shots
im wondering if the scope is junk maybe not shooting to poi
or something what scope works well on lever guns? i dont own one but try to help him with his when i can
any ideas?? mounts are leupold one piece base wih standard rings ammo is remington 150 gr core lokt express
thanks guys

Just try open sites at 50 yds, and then the scope at 50 yds.

That should answer your question then and there.

Cheers & good shooting

Most Marlins that I have shot were very accruate and shot 1.5 or better at 100 for 3 shots...Try a different scope and be sure the mounts are screwed down tight...If all else fails have a knowledgable smith glass bed the butt and forend...Many times a good cleaning with a copper remover does wonders for the old lever guns that just don't seem to get cleaned a lot..Use some WipeOut on the bore..

Thats a lot of scope power for a 150 yard brush gun..A fixed 4x would have been a better choice and then you have a 3x9x40 for your 270 or 300 Win. Thats a pretty good excuse to buy another rifle!
