I always liked my Guide Gun, now I love it!! I got my first whitetail in Maine after living here for nearly three years. He is a nice 6 point that dressed out at 160 lbs. The first year up here I got a Black Bear with the same gun. Now all I need to do is draw a moose tag and I will have the 3 BIG, big game animals from the same gun. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AZNXDhq3atG80¬ag=1 The load that seems to work best is a 300 grain Barnes X pushed to 1930 fps. I get groups under 1 inch. Incidentally I recovered my first bullet from the 45-70. I shot the deer twice. The first was right behind the shoulder, that bullet destroyed heart and lungs and exited. He hunched hard and kept walking slowly. I gave him another that was sharply quatering away. That bullet entered in the middle of the ribs and came to rest inder the skin in the neck. The bullet had shedded its petals but was otherwise in good shape. It weighed 265 out of 300 grains. This is the most I have seen an X bullet loose out of the few that I have recovered. | ||
