I've recently acquired a lever action, first time I've ever owned one. I've shot some ammo through it, now I need to clean it. How do you clean these things?? I'm used to bolt actions and usually clean through the breech end. What procedure do I use for this gun?? It's a Puma (model 92 action) in .454 Casull.

Clean it through the other end !! So you don't damage the bore you could make a guide for the cleaning rod so the rod doesn't rub the barrel near the muzzle.

There is a fine article by Jim Taylor covering many aspects of the 1892 clones.

Actually you can clean it from the bore..Use a guide or use your index finger and thumb to keep it from rubbing on the crown...Another good aid is the bore snake..I use the bore snakes most of the time and give them a good cleaning with Wipe-Out foam about once every couple of months, works for me...

I use about 1/3 of a plain ol' plastic drinking straw for a bore/muzzle protector on my Model 94 30-30s. After several years, the crowns look 100%.
