I'm thinking this just may be the ticket to compliment my .44 Mag revolver. I would possibly also consider a .45 Colt (have a .454 Casull as well). Only looking for a Marlin or a Winchester and kicking the tires at this point. What do you have?
I passed up a marlin lever gun at a local gun show this weekend for $450.... I traded mine off in 1992, because I needed a revolver to go to the SPAG academy... I've missed it ever since... if you find 1, go for it... you won't regret it!!

45 Colt is a great cal for a rifle. If you are addicted to scopes, bolt guns, or shots outside of 200 yds, it's not for you. If you like to get close, hunt deer and hogs you will love it. I have several Marlins in 45 Colt and hunt them often for deer and hog in FL. & GA. It's not for hunting in Africa. I also have them in 44 Mag and like that cal. just the same. Yes, I have plenty of bolt rifles also, don't find much sport in them inside of 200 yds. I choose my rifle & cal for the hunt.

I carry and use an 1894 Marlin in .44 Rem. Mag. on a daily basis and have done so for the past 7 years. It is a great gun. Best bet is to look around and find whatever works best for you.
In 44 mag. I would suggest looking at a Marlin 1894 (pre- Remington manufacture)and the Winchester 92 currently available. There were 94's chambered in 44 mag and many had feeding problems because of the short length of the handgun rounds. Be aware the new Winchester 92's are lawyered up with tang safety and rebounding hammer. The 'new' currently manufactured Marlins by Remington have many problems and it is difficult to find a good one. Someone mentioned the Browning 92 and it is a great rifle. Best of the bunch.

Morning Gents; I've found the Rossie in 45 Colt, with my hand loads to be an excellent rifle. I lapped the barrel, found that 300 grain Saeco gas checked bullets sized to .454, 20 grains of H110 was the ticket. Enjoy which ever one you get.
