The time has come to buy my first mod. 1892. Is there a "best" of the current reproductions? The only one's I'm aware of is Uberti and Rossi. Is one "better" than another? Are there others? Thanks... Jon

The Browning B92 and Winchester 92 made by Miroku are the "best" 92 repros, but the Browning is out of production and I'm not sure about the Winchesters. If you decide on a Brazilian 92, you would do well to contact Steve Young of www.stevesgunz.com and purchase one from him complete with an action job.

+1 on Steve Young. He tuned a .357 EMF brand short rifle for me (great job) and built this 16" octagon .44 Special (another EMF and a great job and ten round mag). They run great, smooth and with no problems. ![]() John Retired husband & grandpa "Life brings sorrow and joy alike. The best '92 repro is certainly a reborn Win 92! This one with 24" full mag holds and functions 14 rounds of 44 Special flawlessly. Rebore & sleeve and action work approx the same cost as a clone. ![]() ![]() Hold still varmint; while I plugs yer! If'n I miss, our band of 45/70 brothers, will fill yer full of lead!

What great looking 92's! Sure would be nice to have real Winchester. Question: do the Uberti, Rossi, etc., repros have some kind of BS safety or are they a simple half-cock like the origionals?

The newer ones from Rossi have a simple half-cock safety like the originals and also an extra worthless safety on top between the two vertical locking lugs that rotates. It can be easily removed and I think Steve's Guns has machined plugs that you can stick in the holes. I think Uberti only makes Model 66's, 73's and 76's but not 92's. Another Italian company(or two) make the 92 clones and they are supposed to be OK. Go to leverguns.com where there is good discussion about all of these makes and models.
