Curious if anyone has tried the Burris FastFireII sight and Turnbull's base on there Mod.71 or 86?? Use the sight itself on M14/M1Garand and works just fine, but have not seen one on a levergun. All feedback appreciated

I have the Turnbull mount and Fastfire II on my Browning 71 Carbine. I haven't used it for hunting yet, but I like the combination and I am much more comfortable with it than I am with the factory sites or a receiver site. The mount is well made and was easy to install.

OK, thanks for the feedback. Ordered one today and even though have a receiver sight for the 71 liked the idea of the Burris set up on the 71.

Rec'd Turnbull base for 71 and installed Burris FFII, pretty straight forward and most likely will have the 86 drilled and tapped for the same set up. Do see that there is now a FastFire III w/ no tools requ'd to adj. for wind. and elev. Good set up for my purposes.

Am wondering how the set up is working. What is the max range? Thinking to put one om my Browning 71 348 win.

eny,
I like the arrangement for the FFireII is small, really small, and the Turnbull base is of quality and easy to install since Brng. 71 is already d/t. Have not spoken to Turnbull about a small set screw in right edge of base, but assuming it is for stability purposes?? Would seat on right edge of rec'vr. Shot mine at ranges from 100 to 200 yds. and works fine.
Off hand can keep shots in the black of Serv. Rifle repair center and from rest shrink that down to 9 and 10 ring. Read somewhere that the Burris will "go to sleep" if left on and the cover is in place, but a bit confused on that point. Going to call Burris and discuss to be sure just how it does work. Perhaps someone on this site has some info on that feature?? Just can't bring myself to drill and tap the '86 yet, but it would make an excellent set up.

ok, I love this setup! For my old eyes, it is a lot better than the peep sight. I'm shooting just under 2" at 100 yards. A few things to note. At low light, the red dot covers a 8.5 x 11.5 sheet of paper, however, it shoots to the center of the dot every time. I don't know how well I will like the on off switch under hunting condidtons with gloves on. I am going to have to train myself to turn it off after shooting. Next, I am going to put a optic fiber front sight on, put back the rear sight and see if it will work through the glass incase the battery quits in the field.
