BLR bump test

Picked up a spanking new BLR takedown, stainless, in 300 win mag last night. As a habit, I always bump test a firearm that is new (new to me), or if I have messed with the firing system. So, I work the lever, then just bump it on the floor. The hammer doesn't drop, in fact the bolt drops back just an inch out of battery covering the hammer. Well it sure won't fire and that is good. My question, is this normal or is my new toy broke? Actually I kind of like it this way.

Nice hunting rifle you got!

Just tried that with my 450M if lever held closed bolt doesn't drop back nor should it. Otherwise bumped lever drops action opens.
