Is this rife in perfect condition worth 1300.0
it is a current model that was made in Japan.
I look at it as an investment.

I left a post in gun collecting but no replies

Even if it's in 405Win, it's way too much.

I bought a brand new 100th anniversary high grade model in 30-06 a few years back for less than $1,000. Silver receiver with gold game scene engraving and nicely figured wood usually seen on Brownings.

It's not a wall hanger. I take it deer hunting.

It was a limited edition model run. Never to be re-issued. Not sure, maybe 1 of 1,000? I don't know how much, if any, they have appreciated since I bought mine in '99. Flash some cash. Start at $950. You can always go higher. Just make sure you get the original Winchester box. It has high-end graphics and will enhance its collector value should you want to sell it later on.

For the record, that particular '95 is also a Limited Edition with case hardened receiver and was one of less than 200 produced in that config.
Davison's is selling a no frills takedown 95 in 405
for a MSRP of around $1500.

You guys better check the gunlist, they are selling for that much and more today...I would say its worth that if you want one..Standard 95s in 405 are selling for $1200 used today..and the old collectors are out of sight.

I own the 405 1895 new Winchester Jap remake. I am not impressed with it but I am for some reason keeping it until I get find a very plain vanilla Browning 1895 in 30-40 Krag to rebarrel to 405.

Things like the external safety are reasons I don't buy new Winchesters very often.

When I ordered the rifle I was in Iraq. I paid for it via email and when I finally got home from deployment and saw the tang safety I felt insulted.

I took it knowing I had waited 3 or 4 years since the anounce of the release of the rifle for it. So there was no way I wasn't going to take it.

Now I have it and can hold onto it until I get a 405 1895 custom Browning built.

A 30/40 1895 and you are going to Rebarrel it????

Cough cough, hack hack....sorry this is choking me up....

Why waste a rifle in such a grand caliber when you could buy a new 405?

I wouldn't cut up a 30/40 or a 303 in an 1895 Winchester!

If I could find a cheap shot out Mod. 95, and there are plenty of them around, in 30=40 then I would not hesitate to rebuild it to a .405..A poor old shooter has no collector value..???????

I'm in the process of completing a buy on one of the Browning 1895's (no tang safety, rebounding hammer, etc.). NIB <$700 - started life as a .30-06 but is destined to become a .35 Whelen.

Can anyone recommend a source of Assy/Dis-assy instructions like what the Gun Digest books have (step by step w/good photos)? Gun Digest doesn't cover the 95 & the NRA books are mostly just a schematic. I'll be especially interested if anyone has info specific to the Browning. I've seen on the M-71's and 86's that they have made some minor design changes but it takes awhile to work through those 'minor' changes.

Thanks-

Sky C.

Just got back from Canada with my 405 and loved hunting with it. It is a newer model with tang safety(don't bother me at all),anyways the only complaint is bluing on the gun. Doesn't take much to mark up the metal. Couldn't even make it back to camp after a driving rainstorm and had rust. Called SSK industries and for $200 I can have it SSK Kromned in satin silver. I think it would look sharp.
