I have one of the Win 94 Timbers in 450 Hornady. Is weighs 6lbs 2oz and balances real nice. The Ashley ghost ring sights work good. All you see is a hazy hole from the rear and the front sight clearly. Only change I might make is to put a fiber optic on the front sight. I had this set up on a Marlin Guide gun in 45/70. Really quick. As far as recoil, I see no difference in recoil between the 45/70 & the 450 Hornady. In fact, the stock design is better on the Win since the lever doesn't come back and bite me like the Marlin. Recoil is manageable, especially if you lean into your position to get your weight forward like shooting an assault shotgun. Noise is very little considering the porting. Just don't be standing beside it! All in all, a great rifle for what it was designed for in the field. Have seen several reviews and all were positive also.
