I guess this is a pretty hot gun from the absolute lack of availability...
(45-70, 6 rounds)
Mine will be here tomorrow!

Gonna try and fit the tiny Burris red dot and see if I can still use the irons. I still feel a little weird using any optic on a lever gun, no matter how accurate

I think you will like the little Burris Fast Fire. I think you will have to take it off to use the irons, not really a big deal...

Nothing wrong with also getting a good scope, say, like a Leupold 1.5 to 5 with illuminated reticle for it as well.

Several Marlins I know of, have shot the Hornady 350gr bullet over 53 gr of IMR 3031, very accurately.

Either the round nose of the flat point feed real good in the Marlin.

I have one and it's great. I have a Burris Euro-Diamond 1.5-6 with illuminated reticle. It's a hog snuffer delux. I'm going to install a happy trigger as they are a huge improvement over factory.
I shoot Hornady 350gr RN over Varget for my shooting enjoyment.

You can borrow money, but you can't borrow time. Don't wait, go now.
