My borther in law has killed a couple of pigs with a 30-30 and I have killed a couple of deer.
While in Idaho this year I killed a Black Bear with a 308 single shot with Federal Factory 180 gr. Woodleigh SP. I have killed several black bears ith bigger bore rifles.
The outfitter stated he does not like 308 or 30-06, for Bears. He likes BIG BULLETS.
If I was going to use the 30-30, I would use either the Starfire 150 gr [built like an X bullet] or the Federal 170gr. Nosler Partition. You can never go wrong with a partition.
