Has anyone taken game with Speer's Hot core bullets using a 30-30? If so, how did they perform compared to the old reliable Core Lokt's and Interlocks?

I have used the 150 and 130 flatnose bullets and they worked perfectly. I never recovered on as they went right thru on broadside ribcage hits. Both are very accurate in my marlin.

A couple of woodchucks, no deer. Nothing huge for explosiveness-golf ball size exit wound at 150 yards.

Rifle was 30-30 Marlin 336A with microgroove barrel (~ 1976 mfr), 3x scope. Load was 170 gr Speer/ 32g WW748. This load shoots 1 MOA with this gun-which is why I took it chuch hunting. It was fun. You don't need a 22-250.

Like most bullets made for the 30-30 the Speer hot cores work fine, I have killed a number of deer and antelope with them...The old timer has been around so long that most of the bullet makers have the bullet construction down pat and with that low velocity its pretty easy to get perfect performance...
