I have 4 favorites: - Winchester M'86 in .33 Winchester...a good elk/moose killer in the bush with the 200 gr. Hornady FP, very little recoil, and very easy to load for - Winchester Model 94 octagon barrel Carbine in 25-35...fed my little family (wife, little son, and baby daughter) for three years with it in the early 60's - Marlin M36 Carbine in 30-30 with Weaver 330 scope in Sisk "Streamline" mount...my dad (now 20 years deceased) and I both shot our first deer together on the same day with that one - Savage Model 99 SOLID FRAME in .22 Hi-Power, English proofed, with Lyman Alaskan in Sisk "Streamline" mount...I know...the books don't show that cartridge in the solid frame guns in the model RS, but that's what one of my first real combo deer/varmint guns was...made in 1930 by the serial number. Have been looking for another ever since I made tha awful error of trading it for something else I no longer have. Never seen a solid frame .22 Hi-Power 1899-RS again. These days the only levers in my vault are -Savage M99, .303 Savage TD, 1/2 round-half oct -Marlin 336-SC, .35 Rem pre-microgroove -Winchester 94AE, .356 Win -Browning BLR, .358 Win (made in 1973) -Marlin 336, .375 Win -Winchester M94, .38-55 -Marlin M444 (built in 1971 w/MC & straight stock & 24" bbl.), .444 Marlin -Browning 1886, .45-70 and about 20 under-lever single shots. Heck, guess I love 'em all. AC | ||
