Anyone using one of these reproductions of the old Lyman M21 for the 95 Winchester? How is quality and durability?

Bill

I have seen a couple of these sights.
If my memory is correct they were the Original ones.
I have been told that they tend to loosen up, and you need to be careful and watch out for that.

Also they are kinda ungainly looking.

I did look into getting one for my 1895, but I much prefer the Williams Foolproof.
Also it has click adjustments, and can take a variety of different diameter aperatures, incuding the Merit adjustable No 4 hunting aperature.

Is your 1895 already drilled and tapped with two holes at the rear left side of the action? If so the Williams sight will bolt right on.

I think that is the best choice in the 1895.

Also, I highly recommend the Take Down version.

CR: Yes, looking at a plain Miroku, preferably takedown. By the way, you are the inspiration for this.

I will keep my eyes peeled for a Miroku takedown 1895 in .405 WCF.
BTW, mine is staying in the family; even my daughter and grandson can shoot it with the 210 grain handloads. Cool

Also, let me know when you have your rifle and want to consider loads for it.

Haven't shot it much .405 takedown Japan.
Definitely need a higher front blade.

I love the old ladder sight, and you dond't have to drill and tap your 95..They will loosen up if you don't turn the lever screw in tight but so will a scope mount, also you can mark the slot for your sight in and if it were to move you just put it back and snug the lever down..It's flat and isn't protrusive like a receiver sight that looks like a wart on a hog.

I lik'em! I also like a bolt peep on a Win. 71 or Win. 94. no protrusions on the flats. I have heard they are easily broken but I never broke one and I've used a lot of them.

The best I had was a win. 71 and a Mod 95 that used the insert without the factory peep and dovetailed it for a Talley peep..what a neat set up that was.
