None of the above.If I had a spare 1895 action I would rebarrel to 6.5x55 . To me that is the slickest conversion one could make.

I don't know. I don't have a 405, nor do I shoot with anyone that owns one. I haven't shot any 300 grain loads over a chrono. I did shoot some for fire forming cases, using Zeglin's recommended fireforming loads. Haven't loaded any since.

You can compare your pressure data with the pressure data that Mike Brady has for his 300 grain loads or 360 grain loads, or visit Zeglin's website for his data and do a comparison there.

I don't think there is enough difference one way or the other when comparing these two cartridges on animals to say they aren't field equals, at least not at the ranges the Winchester 1895 rifle is suitable for with open sights.
