I have been working up some loads for a 1892 action .44-40. I bought a bunch, 500 cast lead 160gr for $17.00. I am looking at Titegroup as a powder. Any ideas? I could start w/ W231 which is what I use for 205gr.

Teat, Really nice rifle and round. With the velosity I get it falls between a .44sp and .44mag in the 24" tube I have. Brass is fragile to reload though. The standard 205gr are plenty for a Woods whitetail gun. I really want to see how the 160's shoot. May make for a fun Woodchuck or Coyote load at 100 yards.
