| My buddy and I have our eyes on them. We're REALLY wanting a pair of the 45/70s though. Now, how to tell the ol' wife . . . ? Guess I won't!

| Snowwolfe\ Price I saw listed was $619 in Buffalo NY. Let me know if you want the store info. Of course that was 2 weeks ago. Wanting a gun like this is harder to hide from the wife since it doesnt look like any others you have so you cant say youve had it for a while.

| Has anyone seen one of these in 45-70 yet?
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

| Snowwolfe-- Saw one in 30-30 at Sportsman's Whorehouse a week or so ago. Seabass says they've got 45-70's on order, but doesn't know when they'll get them in. Looks like a pretty sharp package to me. The barrel doesn't seem as long and out of place as I expected and the recoil pad is really nice. I'll wait for the 45-70.....
Happy shooting,

| I just wanted to add that I went ahead and put on WWG's bear proof extractor and follower in my gun - the extractor smoothed the action out, didn't really expect it, but it takes some slop out of the action -- the follower may, or may not, have made it easier to load, but I like not having plastic in the gun. When the lever was first installed, it was a bit stiff to get to unlock, but after shooting a few boxes through it, including a couple boxes of Garretts, it's ideal.

I got mine from Davidsons, #167, and now that all 500 appear to be sold so I think Marlin will add the .35 to the XLR lineup by the end of the summer. It wouldn't make much sense to offer a limited model at the same time as chambering the XLR model in .35. |

| I realize this will sound like a bit of an ad -- but I'm really happy w. the WWG parts I've put in my gun (trigger, lever, ejector, and follower) Those, along w. the tuning done by my local smith, has made it a really slick shooting, accurate gun (I'm freehand shooting 2.5~3" groups at 80 yds -- I'm sure they'd be tighter w. a different shooter -- on remingtons, I can get close w. Garrett's at times, but the recoil gives me a pretty bad flinch)
