Thank you Saeed. I have a Winchester model 94 in my gun safe right now that is so old it is marked .30 WCF. With it I have taken an antelope at 240 some paces plus a muley doe at about 30 yards. Both were put down with one shot but required a finisher when I got up to them.

I currently own a Marlin 1894 Cowboy II in .357 and a Winchester Model 53 in 25-20 which was built in 1924. I am currently looking for an 1892 in 32-20, 32-40, 38-55 or 44-40.

Thanks Saeed!
I've got a 450 marlin that I would not trade for anything. It is a fun gun to shoot and it shoots any load I put in it.

I currently own 3 lever action rifles. A Marlin 30-30 that my 12 year old daughter will use for her first deer season this year (she prefers this to the 243 bolt action I bought her)and 2 pre war (WWII) Savage 99s. Both in 300 Savage caliber. The Savages are pure gems. They were virtually hand made back then. I still use both of them from time to time. It just feels good to have them with me in the field! [Smile]

Good idea for a new forum.

Saeed,

Well it's about time.HI

Maybe we can all find out if you own a lever gun.

We still havn't gotten anybody to Africa from this site to take a Buff with a 45/70. After you start reading all the posts here about the fun of owning and shooting lever guns you might just take one on your next Safari and film it for us.

I would suggest another raffle for a Buff hunt with a 45/70 but don't want to subject myself to all the whinning and crying I got from the first one.HI

I'll let the boys at Marlin know you finally opened up a spot for them. They are a good group of guys too.

Roger,

Hunt a buffalo with a 45-70?

You must be kidding! That is far too much gun for a poor old dagga boy.

I will stick to a 375 caliber for all my buffalo hunting, thank you.

Yes, I do have several lever action rifles.

Browning 9422 - 22 rim fire
Marlin 357
2 or 3 Winchester 30-30
Several Martini Henri in different calibers.

My BLR 81 in .284, with a Leupold 2X7 is my go-to short to medium range lever gun. I've had it about 16 yrs - relatively light, very fast to the shoulder and accurate.

Got a '94 Marlin .45 Colt a few years ago for Cowboy Action stuff and that gun shoots a ragged hole at 50 yds. A real fun gun.

But, my favorite has to be the Marlin 39 that dad had rebarelled for me in about '48. We mounted a Weaver 3/4" 4X on it a few years later and the number of rounds fired through that old gun would have to be measured in numbers of 'bricks.'

Thanks Saeed

You did this just to get us off the African Big Game site. I tell you it will not be the same without us.

Working of some 600grain loads for my 45/70 GG at the moment. Will let you know when I get them finished.

Thanks Saeed. It just seems unamerican to not have at least one lever action around, even if you don't hunt with it.

Thanks much for a new hangout!!

If it wasn't for leverguns my heart would be completely stolen by longbows, recurves and bowhunting.

I love my Marlin '52 336A(Marlins version of the Winchester 64) in .35 and a Browning BLR 81 in .358. [Big Grin]
