Can anyone give me some receiver sight options for the 1983? I have a 38-55 carbine that has several holes tapped on the top of the receiver and I am trying to figure out what sight might have fit the holes. There are two holes about an inch apart near the rear of the receiver and one more towards the front. thanks!

I know this is an old post, but if you haven't gotten a sight for this rifle yet, try http://www.skinnersights.com The 1894 model should fit yours if the holes have the same spacing. Shoot them an email and they'll fix you right up.

sounds like one of the old lyman sights--- nicknamed 'climbing lyman'. There are repro's but I do not know who makes them. post some photos in the collector section of marlinowners blogt and one of the guys there can tell you.
