Fellow Levernuts,

When my Dad passed on, I inherited his Savage Model 99E, 308 Win caliber. Its a pretty cool rifle and lucky, too. I got a respectable 8-point.

I'd really like to know when it was made. Judging from its monte carlo stock and white lines, I say 70's.

Could someone help? Its serial # is D885369.

Thanks a bunch.

Grizzly

99E w/ Monte Carlo stk was 1981-1984 offering, had no grip cap at all and had no white lines at buttplate, far as I know. Only factory white line grip cap & buttplate Monte Carlo stock may be a clip-magazine model offered 1975-1980, the 99CD. Unless your white lines is an aftermarket pad/cap--then, all bets are off

Check with these guys, the Savage Collectors: www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/Savage. They can date your rifle by serial #.

Thanks XCIX - You really know your Savage Rifles. It did have two stocks and I thought the one w/ white lines was original.

I just understood your post name, 99.

Thanks again, I'll try the link you sent.
