Repeatability w/ what?? The take down is as accurate as the '81. I'm not sure I really like the cartridge choice as it was developed for a traditional lever gun.

I have one in 325 Win short mag with a quarter rib and 2.5x IER scope. I have tested it several times by shooting a 3 shot group, taking it down and reassembling then another 3 shot group. Movement does not exceed 1/4 to 1/2" at 100 yds.

I have one in 358 stainless version. Very accurate and repeatable accuracy. I have 2x7 mounted in detachable mounts on the receiver a 1.5x4 pistol scope on the barrel in detachable rings. I can take it apart and swap scopes and my groups are always under an inch and point of impact has yet to wonder more than a 1/2inch. This rifle is even more accurate than nontakedown version it replaced. I really like how easy it is to clean the chamber and action nice to be able clean the barrel from the breech as well.
unless hunting bears I would buy the gun in .358 Winchester and read Paco's study of that cartridge. I have that gun and it is a stomper with a 225 - 275 grain bullet.Trophy Bonded 225 or Nosler partition 225 will shoot to 300 yrds,a 450 Marlin is a guess at 300 yrds ! Even if a bear came after me where I hunt in Montana ,I would not feel undergunned with it

I have a 35Wheelen AI and love the cartridge. I'm already set up for the 450M and even have a few hundred pieces of brass. For some reason I really like the 450M and 45/70 -- even though in my mind I realize the 450M isn't doing anything the 45-70 can't do.
I'm not sure why, but getting another 358 cartridge isn't flaoting my boat. Thanks for the advice though.
In case anyone is wondering, I didn't go SS. I went with the pistol grip blued version. Might even be in tom. I can't wait.
Only thing I hated about mine was the take down lever would not fold out of the way once the rifle was broken down. Would be a nicer rifle if the lever would fold to a hidden location once the rifle was taken apart. Always looked like an accident waiting to happen, especially if you like to travel with rifle apart.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
Excellent point. Sure does seem like that lever is waiting to be damaged!
I'm going to get to loading up some rounds for it this weekend. Starting with the Hornady FTX 325gr. I have 40 pieces brass trimmed down from my other 450Marlin rifle.
Thank God this brass lasts a very long time. I hope she shoots MOA or better at 100yrds.
I do want to add, I am very happy with the trigger. About a 1/4" creep and the rest of the pull is smooth and a nice crisp break.
Could you elaborate on that takedown lever a bit? Am I to understand that when taken down, the lever cannot be folded in but rather must remain sticking out at some angle? I thought that the picture on the Browning website was showing the lever in the deployed position just for the sake of clarity.
Also, is the barrel band a functional piece that actually retains the forestock to the barrel, or is it just cosmetic?
I've been on the fence about this gun for awhile, but I've never even seen or held one yet.
