| They are a nice rifle in a semi obsolete cartridge. If you want a lever gun of about the same weight, more accurate and a lot more powerful, might I suggest a Browning BLR or Savage 99 in 358 Winchester ? The BLR lightweight is available in 358 and Savage made a carbine version of the 358. If you want 375 WRA performance you can always load the 358 down to a hot 35 Remington level. |

| I had a Marlin in 375Win. As long as I stayed with blunt/flatpoint bullets it dropped everything I ever pointed it at. I like the ctg. I think it would be cool in a double rifle. I have no 1st hand experience with Win leverguns. If you are wanting something to up the performance level you might consider the 230gr Raptor bullet from Cutting Edge. Personally I wish this bullet would be made a bit lighter with a shorter base and a bigger hole, specifically for the lever guns.

I like mine. Semi-obsolete? If you must rely on Factory ammo, perhaps. If you handload, hardly. Even factory ammo isn't hard to find. Very handy hard hitting carbine. If you like tehe 94 in .30-30, you'll really like the .375 Aut vincere aut mori |

| I have a Ruger No 3 in .375 Win. I use mostly 235 grain Speers semi-pointed bullets and I load them long and pretty hot. I have XS sights on it and it wears No 1 wood. It is nice to carry and deadly.

| I'M still long 5 375 W.Rifles: 1 ea: Sav.99,Ruger #3,and Win.94,and two marlin 375s: The Sav.and the Ruger get selected loads for ea. Including the aforementioned Speer 235 gr..None of these rifles has ever fired a factory round while in my hands. The Marlin and Winnie are almost exclusively shot with cast bullets, ranging from one about equiv.to the old B.P. 38/55 round,to a 345 Gr cast FP that will pretty much shoot through about anything you will walk up on in the America's....... I went ahead and bought it. I might be able to pick it up this Saturday (background check is around 7 days now). Nate, you mentioned the 38-55 load with a cast bullet. What weight bullet would that be? |

| Lyman mould #375248,ready to fire it's 258 gr in my alloy, that a plain base bullet,so I stay below 1500 FPS ( Sized 377 for the Winnie,Marlins do better at .39)..I don't own that heavy weight I mentioned. I heard that it's from an LBT mould,-I've been buying them from a commercial caster ..Lyman mold 375449 also works well for me at the higher velocity (It's a gas Checked #) --Nate |

| Good luck,When I got my first 375W.Winchester was still selling their 250 gr loads..I never found any reason for shooting jacketed, unless you don't cast or lack a reliable source..Nate |

| I have a marlin and love the rifle. I bought one of RanchDogs molds he had made up for Marlins and the big throats they have ( not sure about the 94's) As Nate said .379 for the marlin. Look up RanchDog molds, if you want to try it, I'll send you some, or you can borrow my mold and make up a batch yourself. |

Thanks Back40. Very Generous offer but I would feel uncomfortable using another man's mold or putting him out to mail bullets to me. |

| I'm one of those endlessly curious gun nuts. I wonder if the mold works in winchesters as it does in a Marlin. This would let me know without buying a winchester. The offer is there just send me a PM. I'm not a hard core caster, so sending a mold doesnt bother me like it would some. |

| You might check to see if your front sight is tilted way off to the left. Mine was and I sent it back, They put a new barrel and sight on it. They got the sight straight but the barrel is crooked - it shot about 6" left of center when the sights were centered. So I got rid of the Winchester and kept the Marlin. I also have a 21" Contender barrel and a Ruger #3 in the same caliber. |

The front sight is find, the rear sight is junk But functional as long as it doesn't get bumped. |
