Well all did a forum on this caliber and bullet about a year ago and I was overly enthusiastic on the velocity although I did shoot it at 2777 FPS with the 97 gr. GS customs HVHP, it was accurate and a real pig killer..but after a year or so off and on, I dropped my load of H380 down 3 or 4 grains and ran it out at 2550 to 2600 FPS and my brass lasts considerable longer and I used 210 Federals, my loads were too warm, but it took a couple or reloads to discover this delima..That said I still happy as a church mouse at 2600 FPS..Got full penetration on broadsides and nice exit holes ands good blood trails that covered 20 or 30 yards in some cases and instant kills at other times..Bill in Orgon 25-35 Tom cat should be the equal of a factory 250-3000 with these bullets at those velocity. They performed the same in my 250-3000 at over 2800 FPS in my Savage 99 and 3100 FPS in a Ruger bolt action. That flat point reall opens up and does some damage and not as much meat damage as one would expect, but monolithics are good about not creating blood shot meat. if you don't go too light on the bullets and keep them off heavy bone.. I will be in Texas in Nov. and give them another work out and will use my 8x57 with 160 gr. GS Customs HV HPs on a depredation cow in Idaho if all goes as planned. Thanks for the update Ray. I have an e-mail in to GS about the .257 bullet. Hope to hear soon. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

The 97 gr. GS customs worked great in my std. 25-35 Win. on this years hunt and a cull hunt on the same ranch..all pass thrus and good, but short blood trails with about 75% drop at the shot shots. I did drop my load to 2500 to 2550 however as the new Hornady brass these days in 25-35 seems to be rather soft..I also used the 117 gr. Hornady and old WW and Rem factory ammo..All went well, all shoulder shots..Keep range under 200 yards which is about my happy range with most any light caliber and 200 is even better. I just corrected this post I had 250 yards and that was supposed to be 200 yards. Ray, Has your passport been updated to avoid problems crossing into Texas? Where will you be hunting? Just in case you need some assistance. NRA Life Benefactor Member, DRSS, DWWC, Whittington Center,Android Reloading Ballistics App at http://www.xplat.net/

CRS, I will be hiding out about 15 miles from LOmeta, Have a big lock on the gate, and I keep a horse tied up behind the barn for a get away. I will grab up about 10 hindquarters and 20 back straps and head for Idaho..I can carry that much Hillcountry whitetail meat under one arm and still ride like the wind, Im pretty sure..Yeehaw! So you will be not far south of Comanche where I had hunting leases for 25 years. There are also cougars in the area , so be careful where you hide that venison. NRA Life Benefactor Member, DRSS, DWWC, Whittington Center,Android Reloading Ballistics App at http://www.xplat.net/

Comanche, eh? That's where my great-great grandmother lived out her days. Tried to find her grave in a little cemetery on one of the farm-to-market roads south of there with no luck. I kind of liked that town. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Here are a couple of the monometal GS Custom 90-grain pills next to a pair of Hornady 117-grain RNs. Pretty cool I think. fullsizeoutput_b33 There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

A good examply of why the in my case 97 gr. GSC, in your case the 90 Gr. shoot in our 25-35s, as monumental bullets by weight or longer than cup and core and they stablilize..The 86 gr Rem bullet in a 25-35 won't shoot into a 12 inch target, at least in everyone Ive shot and the 75 gr speer has 100 yard shotgun patterns! I love those GSC bullet, and now Barnes has a flat nose hollow point for the 30-30 in their line of bullets..Ive used those in that Spitfire loaded ammo (Im sure they are Barnes)they will shoot thru a cow elk broadside, even break both shoulders according to an outfitter I have several boxes too...
