Hi fellas,

Looking at a 99 F in 308 Winchester. Assume means made in 52-54 time period. 22" barrel. Underlever safety. Carries Tasco 4X scope. Nice piece of wood on rear buttstock and has a metal cap on the buttstock. Ask is $625. What else should I be looking at with this rifle?

Rifle would be for my dad's 70th birthday. Thinking I'd have the wood refinished and a new blueing job.

Thanks!

Jeff

The 99F was introduced in 1955 in .250-3000. and .300 Savage. In 1956 the Winchester cartridges were added (.243, .308, .358). These rifles were factory drilled for scopes. These are very nice rifles, and $625.00 is a far price for the gun in the condition you discribed. The rifle was not equipted with sling swivels, but most had had them added later. This does not hurt the value to much. It is just a nice fact to know.
