I know just how vauge and non specific this question may be, being an anal retentive reloader myself at times but; Is there any one load, or bullet, possibly bullet type that anyone here finds works well in their '94? I would like to load up a batch of ammo to take on a trip where I will be using a friends rifle back home in Australia. This means I will not get to do any testing of the load, though it will only be used for up close offhand shooting. In the past I have used cheap PMC ammo, I think the bullet was a 150gn Winchester elcheapos or something equivalent and they worked just fine. I have grown to love that rifle and use it on all my trips home. I use the rifle for flushing pigs out of thick scrub, so most shots are well under 50meters, with the very occasional hail mary out at 100 or so m at a departing boar. Any advice toward a meddle of the road, no fuss load would be appreciated.

I hesitate to reccomend a load for a rifle that can't be worked up to but 29 grains of IMR 3031 and a 170 grain Speer or Hornady has worked well enough in every Marlin or Winchester 30-30 I ever handled. But I would just buy the same ammo you used last time if it worked and be happy. The 30-30's I have loaded for generally put different loads to different places so you'd have to resight most likely. Leftists are intellectually vacant, but there is no greater pleasure than tormenting the irrational.

I know nothing about the 30-30 in a 94 compared to a million other guys, but my favorite is: 30-30 1977 Win 94, CCI200, 2.58" [single shot only, ammo too long for feeding] Lyman mold 311291 170 gr .309" bullet round nose 3 lube bands, 25 gr IMR4894, 2.4" group at 100m, ~1700 fps

34.5 gr IMR 4895 with a 150 gr Win Silvertip. Shoots MOA in both of my 94's Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing.
