I think he's still alive and well. You can catch his articles on a regular basis in Rifle magazine. If he reversed his opinion that much from the third edetion to the ninth edetion then he was speaking with little or no experience to begin with, IMO or later he just caved in to be PC. Either way the difference between the two is so nominal I just never understood the debate.
