Al, supposedly according to Arthur Pickles book winchester did this at the top of the barrel at the rear part screwed into the reciver due to length ?? Wether this is right or not I do not know. I dropped my 1886 into my smith today and I asked if he wanted someliterature to help him with the conversion and he looked at a 45/70 round cycle through my 1886 el and then looked at a starline 50-110 case and said "no it's fairly straight forward". He is quite a talented smith so we will see I guess, but he got my .585 Nyati feeding and ejecting perfectly on a Brno 602 so this should be a cake walk for him. Kev suggested a 1-22 twist for the 50-110 barrel as being ideal....what twist is yours ??

PC, I just got a 50-110 conversion done on a new Model 86, but I don't see where any metal was removed from the top of the barrel.

I think there has to be a different length from nose to cannelure for a 50-110 bullet than a .50 AK to Martin, to get the correct OAL for the 50-110 and 1886 lever gun. I

Martin, if you had say a 500 gr Hollow point that would be something I would be interested in. Shipping by sea mail would be the best way to go. I reckon a sample of half a dozen 500 gr HP's would be good just with a normal jacket, and half a dozen Soft noses flat enough for a tube...would not matter if they where 525 gr or 475 gr what ever you already have that aproximates the above. If I buy a sample pack off you we would declare them something other than bullets as the ning nongs would then want export/import rubbish for 12 deadly pieces of copper and lead I suppose we need to check out shipping rates. Thanks Kev, the metal removed from the top of the barrel is my only concern with the 50-110.

HI, PC, the 1886 would be better than the Marlin, mind you there is nothing wrong with Marlin they are fine levers, for a 50-110,the 50AK could be done on the Marlin, but I would use a 1886 for that also,1886 has a longer action and can handle a higher psi, again Marlin are also very strong.Either the 50AK or 50-110 will need to be done by a smith so I do not see any difference, but I would go with a 50-110 as I get 300 + fps more than my 50AK that I had with same weight bullets. Also starline brass make very good brass for both,Call Dave Clay he did my 50-110 and will do the 50AK to, by the way my 50-110 will chamber and cycle and shoot 50AK also. I can shoot 50-110 or 50AK,I have even cycled 500Linebaugh through my 1886,but have not shot it,Kev
