My brother just bought a Savage 99 at auction that sold it as a .303 Savage. When it arrived I see no markings on the barrel that designate caliber, seems odd to me am I missing something?
Is there any serial number information out there so I can determine year of manufacture?

It is a real nice little rifle that I'd like to know more about serial number is 67,08X can you Savage experts shed any light on it?

I found this link for dating Savages by serial numbers.
My brothers looks to be 1905, 1906 manufacture by this website.

I thoroughly enjoy shooting the Savage .303. Huntington has Norma Brass in stock. Graff and Midway every now and again. Brass is pricey but case life is excellent with light to moderate loads.
