Has anyone seen it yet, the prototype? Can't wait to order one in 500 S&W when it becomes available but it does not look like it will be available until fall. Thanks.

I saw one at the NRA show in Houston, it is pretty impressive. It is a hybrid Marlin 336 action with quite a few impressive improvements. They said they are working on large rifle calibers in the future.

Glad to hear your impression of it, as it looks like it will be an awesome carbine. It has the side eject of the 336 while having the double lug lock up of the 1886, which represent the best of both worlds. They claim to make a bigger version of it chambering for the 50 Alaskan, 50-110, etc. but a short rifle chambered in the biggest commercial pistal cartrige is the most impressive. The price for the standard version of the rifle does not sound too bad, considering the action being machined out of barstock and everything is done in a custom fashion. It will be a winner!!!
