As someone else replied on another forum, this is like choosing between your kids, how can you pick just one?? But it is always the one I'm shooting at the moment. That is usually a 16" Winnie in 30-30, and a new to me 16" .357 Trapper is quickly taking over the favorite spot (for now).....

I currently use two both BLR 81's one in .308 and the other .358 I've also owned a number of other models, 99"s the usual Marlin's and Winchesters. But, my favorite of all were a pair of Winchester 88's .308 and .358.Sure wish I had them back. But there are no flies on the old BLR81's wityh steel recievers. I've shot over two dozen bear with the .358

SCGunnut...Welcome to AR I never even knew Savage made the 99 in 375. I have seen a few 284s for sale.....BIG BUCKS . 358s are also not cheap. I am still looking for a nice 250-3000 that does not cost an arm and a leg.

Thanx Iron Buck. Just found this forum. Used to be a regular at Shooters and have been at Campfire for awhile but just found this one. I like the different categories here a lot. The .375 99's were only made in '81 and I've never actually seen one in the flesh. I see them in the Gun List from time to time but prices are usually well over a grand and the few that are reasonable are gone before I even get my issue. I have fantasies about finding one at a show or pawn shop but so far it hasn't happened. I saw a nice .250 in Charlotte N.C. at Hyatt's Guns a couple weeks ago in the $600 range with a vintage scope and mount.

My favorite lever action rifle is my Winchester 94AE carbine chambered in 7-30 Waters. I recently just purchased a Marlin 336C in 35 Rem and really enjoy it also

The 7-30 Waters has taken deer out to 275 yards. I did however leave the Waters home this year and harvested a nice buck with the Marlin. Makes a real big hole.
